CO3A1 Collagen type III occurs in most soft connective tissues along with type I collagen. Belongs to the fibrillar collagen family. Trimers of identical alpha 1(III) chains. The chains are linked to each other by interchain disulfide bonds. Trimers are also cross-linked via hydroxylysines. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
